Alyssa “Shay” Beeson

Voice, beginning piano, guitar and ukelele

Shay Beeson is a soprano who graduated with honors from Loyola University Chicago, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration in Vocal Performance. Her love for music began in childhood, where she grew up singing and playing guitar with her family. Although she initially entered college as a science major, she quickly discovered that music was her true passion and found both joy and success in pursuing vocal performance.

Alongside her vocal training and studies, Shay developed a strong passion for acting and musical theater, performing in numerous productions throughout college. Some of her favorite roles include Wednesday in The Addams Family, Casey in First Date, Ariel (Swing/U.S./Dance Captain) in The Little Mermaid, and Pilar (Music Captain) in Legally Blonde.

During her time at Loyola, Shay sang in both chamber and concert choirs and was selected to perform in masterclasses with composer Stacy Garrop and soprano Melissa Foster. She began teaching lessons during her senior year and quickly discovered a passion for guiding students in building their confidence, healthy technique, and a lifelong love of music.

Hi, I’m Ms. Shay!

To have a passion and drive for something as powerful as music means there should be plenty of nurturing and patience so that passion never dwindles and instead thrives into something beautiful. I believe empathy is essential in teaching, especially when working with young students. It’s important that every student feels equally heard, supported, and valued. Music has always been a place of calm and grounding for me, and I strive to create that same environment for my students, an encouraging space where they can be themselves and have fun while growing in their musical journey.
