Studio Policy
2026–2027 Academic Year
Welcome to Lulu’s Music Studio! We are excited to partner with your family in your child’s musical journey. The following policies help ensure a consistent, positive learning experience for all students while allowing us to operate an organized and fair studio. Please read these policies carefully before enrolling.
Lessons & Scheduling
Beginning with the 2026–2027 Academic Year, Lulu’s Music Studio operates as a year-round program. Students remain in their regular weekly lesson time throughout the academic year, including the summer.
Each student receives 40 lessons throughout the year according to the official Studio Calendar.
Lessons are available:
In your home
Virtually when approved by the studio
Private lessons are offered in 30, 45, and 60-minute formats.
Students are expected to attend lessons each week at their assigned day and time. While schedule changes may occasionally be accommodated, they are subject to teacher availability and cannot be guaranteed.
Late registration is welcome and tuition will be prorated when appropriate.
Trial lessons are available prior to enrollment.
Dual-instrument lessons are available only in 45 or 60-minute lesson lengths.
Attendance & Make-Up Lessons
Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in a student’s musical progress.
If a student arrives late, lessons will still end at the scheduled time. The instructor will wait a max of 10 min for a student in their home, after that the lesson will be marked as taken and no make ups or refunds will be offered. If an instructor is late, the student will receive the full lesson.

Illness absences must be reported before 10:00 AM on the lesson day.
Excused absences require at least one week’s notice.
Make-up lessons will be scheduled during the designated make-up weeks listed on the Studio Calendar. Please note that make-up lessons are not guaranteed and are subject to teacher availability and compliance with the notification requirements above. Missed group classes are not eligible for make-up lessons or tuition credit.
If the studio cancels a lesson, a make-up lesson or alternate lesson time will be provided.
Tuition & Billing
Lulu’s Music Studio operates on a year-round academic calendar. Tuition is based on enrollment in the entire 40-lesson academic year, two group classes and two recitals, rather than on the number of lessons in any individual month.
To make budgeting simple and predictable for families, the total annual tuition is divided into equal monthly installments (or semester payments, if selected). As a result, tuition remains the same each month, regardless of how many lessons occur during that particular month.
Some months may include five lessons, while others may include three or four lessons due to holidays, studio closures, recitals, or designated make-up weeks. Over the course of the academic year, every student receives 40 scheduled lessons according to the official Studio Calendar.
Your tuition reserves your child’s weekly lesson time, your teacher’s availability, and your place in the Studio for the entire year, not just for the lessons that occur in a particular month.
Families who enroll after the academic year has begun are always welcome. Tuition will be prorated based on the remaining lessons in the academic year, and the student’s tuition schedule will be adjusted accordingly.
Invoices are emailed approximately 10 days before the payment due date.
Families may continue using their preferred payment method from the previous year unless a change is requested.
Payment Options
Monthly Installments: Due on the 1st of each month
Semester Payments: Due on September 1, January 1, and July 1
Accounts not paid by the 10th of the month may have lessons suspended until the account is brought current. Continued non-payment may result in cancellation of enrollment and forfeiture of the student’s lesson time.
A $30 late fee may be assessed on overdue accounts.
Enrollment & Withdrawal
Enrollment is for the full academic year.
Families wishing to discontinue lessons must notify the studio in writing by the following deadlines:
December 1 — before the Winter/Spring Semester
June 1 — before the Summer Semester
August 1 - Before Fall Semester
Without written notice by these dates, enrollment will continue into the following semester. Students must commit to at least one of the semesters.
Tuition already paid is non-refundable.
Students may be dismissed from the studio due to repeated absences, chronic late payments, disruptive behavior, or violation of studio policies.

Families are responsible for reviewing the calendar and planning accordingly.

Student & Parent Responsibilities
Students should be prepared with all required books and materials.
For in-home piano lessons, families must provide either:
A properly maintained acoustic piano, or
A touch-sensitive electronic keyboard with at least five octaves, a sustain pedal, and a music stand.
Parents of younger students are encouraged to support regular home practice and assist with weekly assignments.
Practice 5–7 days per week is recommended for steady musical progress.

Refund Policy
Tuition reserves a student’s weekly lesson time and the instructor’s availability for the year. For this reason, all tuition payments, registration fees, and other fees paid to Lulu’s Music Studio are non-refundable.
No refunds or credits will be issued for:
Missed lessons
Unused make-up lessons
Early withdrawal from the year or semester
Schedule conflicts
Student vacations or extracurricular activities
Student illness beyond the make-up lesson policy
Dismissal due to violation of Studio Policies
Health & Safety
Students who are contagious or feeling unwell should let the studio know and cancel the lesson.
When appropriate, the studio may offer a virtual lesson instead of an in-person lesson.
Families are responsible for providing a safe environment for instructors during in-home lessons.
Studio reserves the right to move all the lessons to an online format in case of snow or unsafe road conditions. No make ups will be offered for such days if a virtual lesson has been offered.

Right to Refuse or Discontinue Service
Lulu’s Music Studio is committed to maintaining a positive, respectful, and safe learning environment for all students, families, and instructors. The Studio reserves the right to refuse enrollment or discontinue lessons at its discretion when doing so is in the best interest of the student, teacher, or studio community. This may include, but is not limited to, repeated violations of studio policies, chronic non-payment, excessive absences, disruptive or unsafe behavior, harassment, or conduct that interferes with the learning environment.

Media Release
Unless the studio is notified in writing, Lulu’s Music Studio may use photographs or short video clips taken during lessons, recitals, and studio events for promotional purposes, including the studio website and social media.

Communication
Email is the studio’s primary form of communication for invoices, schedules, calendar updates, and important announcements.

Agreement
Enrollment at Lulu’s Music Studio indicates that the student and parent have read, understood, and agree to abide by these Studio Policies.
